The Department of Genomics and Precision Medicine faculty focus on the most common health problems of metropolitan D.C. children associated with health disparities (see links for Asthma, Inactivity and Obesity), as well as an international referral site for specific less common inherited diseases of children (see links for Muscular Dystrophy, Urea Cycle, and Brain and Spinal Cord).
The faculty are focused on translational medicine, with drug development programs, pre-clinical testing in mouse models, natural history studies to derive clinical outcome measures, and clinical trials. The Department of Genomics and Precision Medicine houses one of six NIH National Centers for Medical Rehabilitation Research (NCMRR), and provides research and research services in a large portfolio of medical rehabilitation issues (see Rehabilitation Medicine link).
